Many find the book of John remarkable for its details and depth. One interesting incident in the life of Yeshua noted in John occurs at the season of celebration we know as Hanukkah, or the Feast of Dedication.
During the eight day period of Chanukah, the candles of the Menorah are lit from the flame of the Shamash", or Servant Candle.
The celebration of Chanukah focuses on the lighting of the Menorah. "Then, the light is kindled to give inspiration, for the light of Messiah must burn brightly in our hearts" (Chanukah, Mesorah Publications, Brooklyn, 1981, p.104).
Messianic Judaism honors the Messiah Yeshua in our observances of the biblical feasts, from Passover to Succot, and rightly so, because he fulfills them all.
