Leon Clymer

July 30, 1937 – July 1, 2008

Leon Francis Clymer, Oklahoma City, was born July 30, 1937 in Crescent, Oklahoma to Walter and Berta Mae Clymer.

Leon went to be with His LORD on July 1, as a result of an accident on Yellow Breeches Creek while attending the 2008 Messiah Conference in Grantham, Pennsylvania.

Leon has attended this National Conference of the Messianic Jewish Alliance of America since 1983. It was there that he and his wife Leslie caught the messianic vision that Jewish people can retain their Jewish identity while believing that Yeshua (Jesus) is The Messiah. A messianic gentile with a servant’s heart, in 1992 he founded Kehilat Rosh Pinah, a Messianic Jewish congregation in Oklahoma City and has served as an elder there since 2000. He has also served the congregation as Beginning Hebrew and Jewish Roots instructor.

Leon graduated from Crescent High School. After finishing his U.S. Army term stationed in Bamburg Germany, Leon returned to Oklahoma where he earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma in Norman. Leon then earned an MBA from Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma. Leon had worked in the insurance industry for 43 years, most recently as an Agent with Wesco Insurance Agency in Yukon, OK.

Leon’s last moments in this life were a reflection of his real nature. He was looking out for the good of others, even at his own peril. He was doing something he loved doing and was with people he loved being with. We are thankful that Leon’s last day and hours were spent being himself, in the very best sense, that wonderful, thoughtful, gentle man of GOD we know and love. Leon was a man who loved family, nature, sports, and the friendship of many from all walks of life. He will be fondly remembered as a father who was completely generous with his support and love, and through both his words and his deeds, showed the people around him in his life how to be responsible, humble and compassionate.

He is survived by wife Leslie of the home; one daughter, Renee Holoubek and her husband Joe of Summerville, SC; two sons David Clymer and his wife Melissa of Oklahoma City; and Steve Clymer and his wife Ginger of Norman; and one stepson, Christian Lutton of San Antonio, TX. Leon was also a grandfather to six, Dustin Hendrix, Joey, Molly, Allissa and Avery Holoubek, Reed Clymer and one great granddaughter, Hannah Hendrix. He is also survived by two sisters, Betty Braatz, Newcastle, PA, Wilma Weber, Dover, OK and one brother, Jerry Clymer of Tuscon, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Clifford Clymer, Guthrie, OK.
