Michele developed a strong Jewish identity as a young girl growing up very involved with synagogue activities in Abilene, Texas.  Her search for "the need to be perfect to get to G-d" included study of astrology and the occult.  She resisted the efforts of the Christians around her, but a Hal Lindsay book brought her understanding and "it was as if the light bulb went on and the veil was removed."  Michele truly blesses Rosh Pinah by her presence and involvement in so many things, including service as a Shabbat school teacher and member of the Tikvatanu dance troupe.

As a young girl in Holland during World War II, Mia and her family suffered under German occupation and the evil regime of Adolph Hitler.  Mia struggled many years with the burden of the hatred she felt towards the German people.  Only by the redeeming love and salvation provided by G-d was she able count her blessing and be set free of those terrible feelings.  Mia is like a mother to all of us at Rosh Pinah, and we are very blessed by that.
