The Jewish Sages thought long and hard about the meaning of Yom Teruah, commonly called Rosh Hashana. They knew there was much more to it than just a day each year to blast shofarot (ram horns) or to eat honey cake, apples dipped in honey, pomegranates and crown challah. They realized Yom Teruah points humanity to seriously consider two of GOD's greatest attributes, His judgment and His mercy. Each of these traits are deeply enthroned in His nature. Yom Teruah teaches us that GOD's throne of judgment is real and so is His desire to extend His mercy to all people, whether Jewish or Gentile. Yeshua's heart is open to all who turn to Him, seek His face while He may be found, and show that their faith is real by choosing to live a life of generosity and grace. Only through faith in Yeshua, our sacrifice for sin, is eternal life made available to the repentant among fallen mankind. Only in Yeshua are judgment and mercy reconciled eternally on our behalf.
